Marinvest is a group of companies directed from Gothenburg owned by Lars Mossberg and Per Johansson. Marinvest was established in 1988 with the objective to establish a long-term presence in the shipping market.

The company was started by Lars Mossberg after leaving his position as executive vice president with Zenit Shipping AB, where he had served since 1978. Lars Mossberg is presently Chairman of Intertanko North European Panel.
In 1990 Per Johansson joined the group as a partner with financial expertise.
In 1997 Marinvest attracted investors to create LR Shipholding Ltd in Bermuda, to purchase the LR1 product tankers M/T Northern Bell and M/T Panda.

In 2000 and 2001 additional LR1 ships were acquired by LR Shipholding and entered into the LR1 pool, operated by A/S D/S Torm of Copenhagen. In 2004 the LR Shipholding Group authorized Marinvest to sign four contracts for LR1, Ice 1A newbuildings for delivery from second half 2006 to first half 2008.

In connection herewith LR Shipholding Ltd formed Skagerack Invest Limited and its 75% owned subsidiary LR ICE Shipholding.

During spring 2006 an agreement was reached to acquire another two LR1, Ice 1A newbuilding contracts in connection with delivery from the shipyard.

In 2010 Marinvest founded Hafnia Management and attracted four partners and a team of skilled personnel to establish an LR and an MR chartering pool.

In the beginning of 2011 Marinvest contributed to the start of Straits Tanker pool, a joint venture between MOL and Hafnia. The pool started trading in mid 2011. All Marinvest spot vessels trade in Hafnia/Straits LR1 pool.

Marinvest is a member of the Swedish Ship Owners’ Association and Intertanko, supporting their strategy and goals.
