LR1 Product Tanker Fleet

The LR1 vessels under Marinvest’s management all have special advantages over standard tanker tonnage. With six LR1 Ice Class 1A ships under management Marinvest is the single largest tonnage supplier within the LR1 segment. These six sister vessels all have further enhanced features such as controllable pitch propeller, good winterization, corrugated bulkheads and additional washing capacity providing the ETC “Effective Tank Cleaning” class notation.

For additional safety the vessels are equipped with alternative propulsion providing them with engine redundancy and take-me-home capabilities. The vessels have traded in ice in all parts of the world; Baltic Sea, East & West Canada, Alaska, China, Northwest Russia and Northern Sea Route. After careful research and evaluation the first voyage through the Northern Sea Route was undertaken in 2011. Up until October 2013 we have undertaken 9 successful voyages in total both eastwards and westwards with different prominent charterers.

The LR1 vessels are currently all trading within the Hafnia LR Pool

Methanol Tanker Fleet

Marinvest has been involved in methanol transportation since 2006 and currently manages a fleet of 6 methanol carriers on time charter to Methanex. Marinex, Mariline and Marit are dedicated methanol carriers with additional safety features such as N2 generators and methanol butter-worthing class acceptance.

Mari Jone and Mari Boyle were delivered in 2016 and are part of a series of the world’s first ocean-going dual-fuel methanol carriers, able to run on both methanol as well as all conventional fuels. Being fitted with the MAN 6G50ME-B9.3-LGI engines and a dual-fuel concept developed together with Marinvest, these ships are operating on methanol as fuel since delivery. In addition they are also fitted with modern N2 generators, a high efficiency tank cleaning system and the latest performance monitoring equipment. In 2019, 2nd generation methanol dual fuel vessels Mari Kokako and Mari Couva were delivered under Marinvest’s management. Marinvest is proud to be a leading part of the pioneering team to develop methanol as a marine fuel. Methanol is a widely available and future proof marine fuel. Methanol is fully IMO2020 compliant and has a strong green emission profile with a versatile raw material base from both fossil and various bio sources.
